Pure Acres Farm
the oil that makes taking care of skin and hair easy
Editor’s note: This post has been updated with a new DIY Deep Conditioning Treatment made with Pure Acres Farm Castor Oil. See the How Pure Acres Farm Castor Oil Looks and Feels section of this review.
Hey there, Michelle here. Today I’m going to review the Pure Acres Farm Organic Castor Oil.
If you don’t already know, organically made products are pesticide free. This means you’re not adding unwanted and potentially dangerous ingredients to your body. Organically grown plants are given fertilizers that come from natural sources such as compost.
The Packaging
This organic Castor Oil from Pure Acres Farm came with a small Amazon box. Neatly packed with the bottle of oil were 5 mascara wands, 5 eyeliner brushes a glass dropper. Somehow one of the mascara brushes broke. Good thing there are 4 more mascara brushes that came with the product.
How Pure Acres Farm Castor Oil Looks and Feels
Castor oils have this ability to make lashes look fuller, thicker and longer after a few weeks of use.
The oil is really thick and does not have any scent. The oil has a very pale yellow color that on some instances looks almost clear to me. I kind of have gotten used to the smell that most castor oils have and was a bit sad that this did not have a smell. Is because it’s organic? I would have thought that organic oils had more of the castor bean’s natural smells versus non-organic oils. It was also a bit slower when it comes to absorbing into the skin.
The accessories that this Pure Acres Farm Castor Oil came with suggest that this is mainly for enhancing the eyebrows and eyelashes. Castor oils have this ability to make lashes look fuller, thicker and longer after a few weeks of use. You can also use it for a variety of things including making scars and stretch marks fade and clearing acne.
I tried this DIY hot oil treatment on my hair and I loved how my hair felt so soft and less frizzy!
For days when hair just feels frizzy, dry and rough, you can create an at-home hot oil treatment with castor oil by massaging a few drops of this oil on your hair and let it sit for 15 minutes. It also helps if you wrap your hair in a heated towel. Wash it off with lukewarm water and your favorite shampoo and you’ll feel like your hair no longer feels rough. Update: In all honesty, I thought I lost my Pure Acres Farm Castor Oil. The last time I used it was for the DIY hot oil treatment (mentioned above). I found it after all this time and the bottle was still half full! I enjoy knowing I have more castor oil around the house. So to celebrate, I decided to try out a new hair treatment with this oil.
Try my DIY deep conditioning treatment with egg and castor oil.
- Mix egg whites, aloe vera gel, and castor oil together. Proportions don’t really matter as long as you can get it all over your hair.
- Massage the treatment on your scalp for 10-15 minutes
- Leave the treatment on your hair for another 20-30 minutes before you rinse with warm water
Don’t forget to rinse thoroughly so that you don’t get a greasy after feel. You can apply this twice a week if you really want to grow your hair. I like doing this when my hair feels dry and dull after consistently heat styling. It adds a natural glow and shine to your hair too.
During the dry months like during the winter months, skin can feel very tight and dry due to the colder air that your skin is exposed to. During the summer, all that heat can also dry up your skin. Use castor oil on both instances to moisturize your skin. This natural moisturizer has ingredients that can nourish your skin. If you ever get sunburnt in the summer, you can also use castor oil to get relief from the redness and inflammation.
I’ve looked up some recipes for castor oil and was glad that I found so many ideas on how it can be used other than in hair, eyelashes, and skin. I’m going to try this idea where castor oil is being used around the eye area. I tend to get very dry in those areas in the winter. I hope that this will help.

Final Thoughts on Pure Acres Farm Castor Oil
This castor oil from Pure Acres Farm comes in a 2 oz. amber glass bottle. The size is small enough that it fits inside my makeup kit but large enough to create so many castor oil recipes. I used it on so many things from temporarily hiding my split ends until I can get to the salon to disinfecting my cut from when I was paring some apples. I love this product and its multitude of uses.
