Here’s something to think about. Expeller pressed castor oil. That’s something I don’t see in many castor oil so when I saw it in NOW Foods’ Castor Oil I got curious. It’s Michelle again by the way. Read on to find out what expeller pressed and this oil is all about.

The Packaging

I got the bottle of castor oil from NOW Foods delivered to my doorstep on time. I got it in a package envelope lined in bubble wrap. The bottle was made of clear plastic and on top is a disc top press. There is no seal on the outside of the bottle but there is one when you uncap it. You’ll have to peel this seal off.

How NOW Foods Castor Oil Looks and Feels

It does not smell like anything and the consistency is not too thick but also not too thin.

The huge 16 oz. bottle contains a pale yellow colored oil that isn’t opaque or cloudy. It does not smell like anything and the consistency is not too thick but also not too thin. Its somewhere in between and I kind of like it. I like the texture of this oil even if I’ve been used to thicker oils. This does not feel like it will weigh my hair down or make it look too slick.

I gave this oil as a gift to my mom to help her with her thinning hair. As people age, hair can become thinner and more prone to breakage. Her hair is a bit wavy and thin. She does not have bald spots or anything like that but I can see that her hair could be thicker. She tried the oil on her hair and mixed it with some coconut oil. After a few weeks, she swears her hair felt thicker. She’s very happy with the product. I’m also happy because I was able to help her.

The price of the oil is very budget friendly especially for the size that it comes with. If you’re like me and you like mixing Castor Oil with other oils or with lotions and conditioners, the NOW Foods Castor oil is a good oil to start with. The 16 oz. bottle can be used for hundreds of different uses and you’ll still have a lot left over for another hundred. I love how endless the possibilities are.

Now about expeller pressed castor oil. Well, it turns out the process of expeller pressing is almost similar to cold pressing. The difference is that the oil in expeller pressing gets heated at a higher temperature than in cold pressing. The high heat can affect the oil somehow. If you’re not very particular with this difference between cold pressed and expeller pressed castor oil, you would not mind using this castor oil from NOW Foods.
