Namskara
More Than a Natural Makeup Remover
Good morning, everyone! Michelle here, your resident product reviewer. I hope everyone is doing ok. Today I will be reviewing the Namskara Castor Oil. This brand is very new to me. This is the first time I will be trying any of their products. It’ll be great I promise! Let’s begin, shall we?
The Packaging
The oil came in a small brown Amazon box the size of a small shoebox. I ordered it with some mascara and some lip balm so the box won’t rattle with just one product inside. The actual Namskra box with their logo and all that nice green and off white colored packaging is just as small as my hand. Not many Castor Oil products I know come with their own box so this was a welcome change. The expiration date was clearly visible on the side of the box and written in a tiny white sticker that says USE BY. Mine says it’s set to expire in 2019. That’s 2 years from now.
Unlike other castor oils I’ve tried, this one is a bit smaller at only 30 ml (1 fl. oz.). Most other castor oils are at least 4 fl. oz. Some come in 16 oz. bottles. Many essential oils use castor oil as carrier oil. Since this bottle is only 1 fl. oz. I won’t be using it for that purpose.

Inside the box is an amber colored glass bottle topped with a white and grey glass dropper. The bottle was also sealed with a tamper proof seal so this means it was packed and shipped without any other people opening the bottle while it was on its way to me. One thing about the dropper though, it makes such a mess after every use. I mean the dropper was supposed to control the amount of oil that you dispense bit it just makes a mess every time I use it. I chucked the dropper and used one of the droppers that I bought in bulk for similar situations like this.
The Castor Oil came with two accessories, the mascara wand and eyebrow brush. Both accessories are made of plastic. It also comes with a sort of like gift card or something. You can get a free product if you go to their site. I haven’t decided yet what free product to get but that Retinol Moisturizer looks promising.
How Namsakara Looks and Feels
The oil has a thick consistency. A little too thick for my taste. I took a few drops of the oil and applied it on my hands and it took a while before it got totally absorbed into my skin. The cold weather made my skin very dry so when I applied the oil, the thick consistency sort of worked to my advantage because it moisturized by dry skin even if I didn’t like it very much. I like my oil to absorb quickly. This one took a while.

The oil has a pale yellow color that’s almost clear. The thick consistency meant that the oil isn’t runny. The oil didn’t have that nutty sort of smell that I get from other organic Castor oil I’ve used in the past. It barely has any smell.
Using Namskara Castor Oil
I checked out Namskara’s website to see what they recommend I use the Castor Oil for. I saw that you could use castor oil as an all-natural makeup remover.
For this one, I used some organic coconut oil and the Namskara Castor Oil. The ratio that I use is 1/3 cup of coconut oil for every 40 drops of castor oil. I let that mixture sit overnight as the instruction on their website says. After a day, the mixture hardened into a body butter type of consistency. I used a cotton pad to remove some eye makeup and the castor oil mixture worked. Some of the other waterproof makeup required a stronger makeup remover solution but for my eye shadow, foundation, and concealer, they came off easily.

The accessories made it easy for me to use the castor oil on my eyebrows. My eyebrows felt a little sparse so I tried it to see if it will make any difference. 3 weeks in and I’ve only seen a slight improvement in terms of thickness. I’ll keep using it for 3 more weeks to see if it will help make my eyebrows look thicker.
I also tried the oil on my eyelashes but after some of the oil dripped to my eye, I didn’t try it again. My eye felt irritated. I had to flush it with water to get it all off. My eyes were a bit red but after a while, the redness subsided. Just a reminder to everyone, keep the oil out of your eye. Use only one to two drops of oil on your lashes.
Final Thoughts on Namskara Castor Oil
The oil worked great as an all-natural makeup remover. I love that I don’t have to be dependent on chemical based makeup remover after using this oil. The castor oil made a slight difference on my eyebrows but not significant enough to be classified as thick. I will need a few more weeks to see if it can really deliver thicker eyebrows. It did irritate my eye a bit so just make sure you are careful when using this oil on your eyelashes.

The things that didn’t impress me about the oil are its size and dropper. For the same price, I could get a bigger sized organic castor oil bottle that I can use for many different things such as adding it to my lotion or to my shampoo. The dropper was a bit of a disappointment, as it did not do what it is supposed to do which is to control how much oil is dispensed. The oil made a mess on my vanity. I had to replace the dropper with one of my own.
Update: I reached out to Namskara and I love how quickly they responded to my concerns. They gave me valuable tips on how I can use their product in the best possible ways. They’ve completely turned my first impression around with their incredible Customer Care Teams. Kudos to everyone on the team. Now, I look forward to more Namskara products.
